About us
Our Osteopathic practice was established here in 1989. Over the years we have developed our skills and abilities to support our patients in their journeys to optimise their health. We have gathered a skilled team of Osteopaths and other therapists to work together for the patients.
People often ask us what Osteopaths do, more particularly what do you do here; because it seems so different to other treatment I have received! Perhaps the answer is that we don’t “do” we “allow“. We help create the optimum conditions in the body for the individual to heal themselves. The Osteopath acts like a catalyst to allow the body’s own innate wisdom to complete the healing process.
Jeremy Gilbey B.Sc.(Hons) DO FSCCO
Jeremy is the principal practitioner, founding the practice here in 1989. He has been teaching Osteopaths at undergraduate and postgraduate levels over many years in both the UK and abroad. He has developed a particular interest in the treatment of patients who present with complex multifaceted problems, who have already explored many avenues of treatment. He often receives referrals from other Osteopaths and therapists. Over many years he has been treating pregnant women, babies, young children and their mothers. He often says how wonderful it is to see a girl in her childhood and then years later be able to support her with her own growing family. Jeremy is a founding member of the Sutherland Cranial College of Osteopathy and a member of the Institute of Osteopathy.
Brigitte Gilbey DO
Brigitte qualified in 1985 from the European school of Osteopathy and co-founded the practice with Jeremy in 1989. She speaks fluent French and Vietnamese. She has a special interest in the importance of improving posture to optimise health. She treats a wide range of patients of all ages and helps many people with long term pain. Many drama students have benefited from her Osteopathic support in coping with the physical stresses of their demanding career. Brigitte is a member of the Institute of Osteopathy and the London Society of Osteopaths.
Rebecca Law BSc (Hons) Ost. MSCCO
Rebecca’s approach is aimed at supporting people to return to their optimal state of health. She works with a broad range of people with a variety of symptoms. By enabling people to find health and balance in their system, Rebecca finds osteopathy can reduce and eliminate pain. It can also help people feel better, healthier and happier, and enable them to manage the physical and mental stresses and strains of life more effectively. As part of her care, Rebecca is interested in what people do and how they do it. She can advise on computer/laptop setup and use, and can give exercises to help recovery.
The Reception Team
The first contact with the practice will be through the reception team: Carole, Fiona and Jo. They are skilled in helping patients with their needs. If you are in acute discomfort they will work hard to find an appointment for you. They love to provide help with babies and children in the practice. Please don’t hesitate to call them if you need any assistance with appointments or any other issues connected with the practice. They do get very busy at times with phones, appointment booking and general administration so if the answer machine is on please leave a message and they will get back to you as soon as they can. They are very caring and will do whatever they can to assist you in your practice visit.
